Born in Ankara in 1976. He entered Ankara State Conservatory of Hacettepe University in 1985 and studied percussion and cello with Jozsef Györfy. He completed his high school and University education
with Prof. Dogan Cangal and graduated from the cello department in 1996. He then started working as a tutor at his alma mater.
During his education, he gave many recitals and participated in many chamber orchestras. He recorded his first CD with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. Erçag also recorded Metin Altıok’s “Oratorio”, which was performed with the pianist, Fazıl Say.
In 1994, Erçag was accepted in the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra with the highest score and got an opportunity to participate in the master class of Prof. Lois Claret in Provence in France as an active participant. Erçag has given many concerts in several countries such as France, Egypt, Lebanon, Holland (Concertgebouw, Rotterdam Hall) and Belgium. In 1999 he passed an examination of Antalya State Symphony Orchestra and performed as a first cellist until 2005. He is currently a first cellist of the Istanbul Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra and quartet as well as a soloist of Cellistanbul which was founded by four cellists in 2002.
